Freight Operations Modelling for Urban Delivery and Pickup with Flexible Routing: Cluster Transport Modelling Incorporating Discrete-Event Simulation and GIS

چکیده

Urban pickup and delivery (PUD) activities are important for logistics operations. Real operations general freight involve a high degree of complexity due to daily variability. Discrete-event simulation (DES) is method that can mimic real include stochastic parameters. However, realistic vehicle routing difficult build in DES models. The objective create model routing, which considers the driver’s decisions. Realistic models need predict route (including time distance) variable consignment address backhaul pickup. Geographic information systems (GIS) were combined develop PUD GIS was used process geographical data. Two developed compared. first simple suburb model, second an intersection-based model. industrial data applied including one-year global positioning system (GPS) A case study one tour shown, with results validated actual GPS also compared conventional result shows adequate routing. This work provides combining operation urban PUD. has potential help industry practitioners better understand their current experiment different scenarios.

Modelling and Solving the Capacitated Location-Routing Problem with Simultaneous Pickup and Delivery Demands

In this work, the capacitated location-routing problem with simultaneous pickup and delivery (CLRP-SPD) is considered. This problem is a more realistic case of the capacitated location-routing problem (CLRP) and belongs to the reverse logistics of the supply chain. The problem has many real-life applications of which some have been addressed in the literature such as management of liquid petrol...

Modelling without queues: adapting discrete-event simulation for service operations

Discrete-event simulation, which has largely grown out of modelling manufacturing systems, has increasingly been applied in the service sector. The approach, however, is not always appropriate for modelling service operations. In particular, it cannot help with detailed decisions about the layout of service operations in which the customers are present such as retail outlets and airports. An ad...

A Framework for Discrete Event Modelling & Simulation

The paper discusses a layered design for a discrete event simulation framework based on the Beta programming language. A description of goals and motivation of simulation modelling is followed by a brief characterization of Beta and its suitability for work this area. After some general comments on the history and state of simulation programming the design of the BetaSIM framework is illustrate...

Teaching and Learning Discrete-Event Simulation & Modelling With WITNESS

WITNESS is a VISM system [3] or simulator as Law & Kelton [4] call it. Produced by Lanner Group, it claims to be the world’s leading software product in the field of visual interactive simulation. The version used for teaching is the educational version which has the full functionality of the proper version but is restricted to a smaller number of elements. Both discrete and continuous systems ...

STOCHASTIC VEHICLE ROUTING PROBLEMS WITH SIMULTANEOUS PICKUP AND DELIVERY SERVICES

The problem of designing a set of routes with minimum cost to serve a collection of customers with a fleet of vehicles is a fundamental challenge when the number of customers to be dropped or picked up is not known during the planning horizon. The purpose of this paper is to develop a vehicle routing Problem (VRP) model that addresses stochastic simultaneous pickup and delivery in the urban pub...
